About
It’s me, a dev — Lars Hornbaker.
I’m a solution architect and studio lead at formigas, with thirteen years of building software and the teams and decisions around it. I’ve worked across energy, mobility, industrial, and healthcare-AI systems, and I hold an M.Sc. in computer science from HTWG Konstanz.
I work with AI every day and I’m fast with it. For the throwaway and the exploratory — POCs, spikes, internal tools — I’ll happily let it take the shortcut; speed is the whole point there. For the things that have to keep running, the bar goes up: deliberate architecture, code I own and stand behind, tests, and review. AI still does plenty of the typing; senior judgment and verification are what make the result trustworthy. Same tool, different rigor.
That line — where AI is genuinely reliable and where it quietly isn’t — is most of what this blog is about. I work it out in the open, mostly on my own projects, and write down what actually holds up versus what just looks right.
One non-technical credential: I once spent a year as a full-time parent, which taught me more about prioritization and crisis management than any sprint ever has.
